Hailsham shared ownership

Shared ownership is a government-funded scheme that's an excellent way for people to take their first step onto the property ladder. 

You buy a share of the property’s value (usually between 25-75%) and pay a subsidised rent on the remaining share. A key advantage is that you have a security of tenure on the share you pay rent for. This is something that renting on the open market cannot offer. Over time, you can buy more of the property until you own 100%. 

You'll also need a smaller deposit for shared ownership than you would if buying on the open market. Generally it's a minimum of 5% of the value of the share you're buying, subject to conditions. You’ll need to raise a mortgage on the rest of the sum required.
