Your First Home

At Latimer, we’re committed to helping more people access affordable home ownership. The Your First Home scheme could offer a new route onto the property ladder for eligible first-time buyers.

The government is expected to announce more details about Your First Home soon. Register your interest to keep up to date with the homes and options available from Latimer.

Helping first-time buyers take their first step

The Your First Home scheme will be a government-backed scheme designed to help more first-time buyers purchase a new-build home with a smaller deposit.

The scheme aims to make home ownership more accessible by reducing upfront costs and helping eligible buyers get onto the property ladder sooner.

How the scheme works

  • A minimum 2.5% deposit
  • A government equity loan of up to 20%
  • A mortgage to cover the remaining balance

The equity loan is expected to be interest-free for an initial period, helping to reduce upfront borrowing costs. Final eligibility criteria and scheme details are subject to government confirmation.

Who could be eligible?

The scheme is expected to be available to:

  • First-time buyers purchasing a new-build home in England
  • Applicants who meet affordability requirements and any applicable income or property price limits

Full eligibility criteria will be confirmed by the government at the Budget in October. If it isn’t right for you, Shared Ownership could be another affordable way to buy a home.

What are the benefits?

The Your First Home scheme could help you:

  • Buy a new-build home with a lower deposit
  • Reduce the amount you need to borrow through a traditional mortgage
  • Access home ownership sooner
  • Take your first step onto the property ladder with greater confidence

For many buyers, the biggest challenge isn’t meeting monthly mortgage payments, but saving a large deposit. This scheme aims to help overcome that barrier.
