Kick off: stylish new homes launched in Cambridge

A collection of new homes have been unveiled on the site of the former Cambridge City Football ground.

Latimer, part of the Clarion Housing Group, in January launched 17 homes for shared ownership at its new development in Chesterton.

The Blossom, which is located just off Milton Road, has a mixture of stylish one and two-bedroom flats and three and four-bedroom family homes.

Through shared ownership, buyers could purchase a 40% per cent share of a one-bedroom home from as little as £318,000 or £570,000 (full market value) for a three-bedroom home.

The Blossom is conveniently located within walking distance of Cambridge City centre, the River Cam, Jesus Green and Midsummers Common. It is also situated within the catchment area of some of Cambridge’s leading schools.

Latimer launched the first four shared ownership homes at the scheme last summer. Clare Surgeon, 41 and her partner Mark Davies, 39, moved into a three bedroom house in that initial tranche in August.

Clare said: “We love our new home and are so proud of it. We still can’t believe that we were able afford such a fabulous house in a brilliant part of town with all the amenities we need on our doorstep.  Having a driveway is a massive bonus and we love our little garden and terrace.  This is our ‘forever house’ - I really can’t envisage us moving from here.

She added: “It’s a very special time for us because it’s our first home together and our first Christmas that we spent together as a couple.”

Karen Prior, Sales Adviser for Latimer, said: “The Blossom presents a fabulous for home buyers who crave a little peace and tranquillity, but also want to be located within touching distance of the city’s hotspots. The new year is always good time to make big life decisions and we have no doubt that buyers choosing to live at the Blossom will making a choice they won’t regret.”

Cambridge City Football Club vacated the site in 2013 having sold the land for redevelopment.  In total, the new development will have 42 affordable homes when the project completes.

Latimer  has a strong track record in Cambridgeshire having operated in the area for around 20 years. In October, it announced that it is proposing to build around 160 new homes in Hardwick, South Cambridgeshire.
